The motorbike hour/rpm meter unit is powered by an internal lithium battery, which has a battery life of 8 years, with no external power connection required. The hour/rpm meter works on 4 and 2 stroke engines: dirt bikes, road bikes, boats etc.
Since the hour/rpm meter is triggered by the spark of the engine, the unit displays true engine hours. This is very useful for maintenance and warranty applications. The unit displays engine rpm when the engine is running. Hour usage is displayed when the engine is not running and remains visible, unlike cheap meters that turn off the display when the engine is not running because the meter is fitted with a short life battery.
Having a rpm display is helpful for setting idle speed and tuning air/fuel mixture screw setting. Great for keeping an eye on engine rpm when having a db noise test done, to make sure the exhaust noise is been checked at the correct rpm. Great for setting the clutch on small KTM bikes and the correct idle on fuel injected bike and quads
